This critical piece of technology will allow our experienced team of urologists to offer greater precision, speed and safety for Cabrini patients.

Kidney stones are mineral and salt deposits that form inside your kidneys. They can be really small – as tiny as a grain of sand – or as large as a golf ball.

Pain comes when the stone dislodges and starts to move through the urinary tract.

Your support today will deliver world-class care for Cabrini patients.

“Up to eight percent of Australians can get kidney stones. It can cause extreme pain. This new technology makes the procedure more efficient in terms of complete destruction of the stone and a decreased risk of retention of fragments, which reduces the need for repeat procedures.
The MOSES Laser will have a significant impact on our patients, and greatly improve their quality of life.”

- David Dangerfield, Cabrini Urologist

What is kidney stone laser surgery?

A minimally invasive procedure, performed under full general anaesthetic, by highly skilled urologists. A small instrument with a camera (ureteroscope) is inserted into the urethra and passed into the bladder, through to the ureter and into the kidney.

Once the stone is located, a laser directs pulses of energy to break the stone into smaller fragments. Some can be passed through the urine, while other larger fragments are removed by the surgeon.

Why MOSES?

  • Effective on any stone type, size and location
  • 20% reduction in procedure time
  • 25% reduction in fragmentation time
  • Better control and higher precision
  • Reduces the number of repeat procedures
  • Enables faster recovery for patients

With your support today, we have the chance to access the latest, most technologically advanced laser on the market. It will truly transform the experience of patients by being faster, safer and more precise.
